E-mail Notification of SIRS Survey (samples)

Students will receive several e-mail messages - an initial notification followed by a reminder every few days. Students who complete the survey will not receive the reminder messages.

Subject: [course number and instructor name] Rutgers Student Instructional Ratings Survey (SIRS)
The online Student Instructional Ratings Survey (SIRS) for [course number and instructor name] is available to be taken now.

The University asks for your help in completing this rating form. The results will be used by both the instructor and the University to assess and improve instruction. The instructor will only see a statistical summary of the responses by the class and the group of comments. These will not be made available to the instructor until after final grades have been submitted.

To complete the surveys for the classes in which you are enrolled this term:

1. Go to Sakai at http://sakai.rutgers.edu/
2. Log in with your Rutgers NetID. If you do not have a NetID, see below.
3. Click on "My Workspace" then click "All Surveys" in the left-hand column
4. Under "Current Surveys" click the links for your courses. Please note that you may see several surveys, one for each instructor and TA in each of your courses.

For convenience, you may click the link below to go directly to the survey:

Please complete the survey before August 11, 2008.

If you do not have a Rutgers NetID, you can create one by following the instructions at http://oit.rutgers.edu/services/account/quick.html . You will be able to take the survey within 15 minutes of creating your NetID.

SIRS results from previous semesters are available at http://sirs.rutgers.edu/

Your login information is confidential and will not be used to identify your responses or comments. Identifying information is used internally by the system solely to restrict who can take the survey and is destroyed after the survey completion date.
