Downloading Department SIRS Reports

For courses where the Student Instructional Rating Survey was done online, we are distributing the summary statistics and comments through Sakai. The instructions below for downloading the files apply only to the surveys that were conducted using the new online system. Results for surveys conducted on paper will be distributed later in the summer.

Please download and save the files to a department computer. We will delete the files from Sakai by the end of the semester in preparation for the next survey period.

Instructors have already received their individual reports by email. However this complete collection of files is available only to the authorized contact person for the department. It is the responsibility of that person to distribute the files as needed within the department. If you need to change or appoint someone for your department or need other corrections, please contact CTAAR at 932-7466 or at info@brokenaddress.rutgers.edu please replace "brokenaddress" with ctaar.rutgers.edu.

To download the PDF files:

  1. Log in to Sakai at https://sakai.rutgers.edu/portal/ (this link will open in a new window or tab).
  2. Click the "SIRS Distribution" tab. If you do not see a "SIRS Distribution" tab, click "Membership" in the left hand column and you can click "SIRS Distribution" in the list of sites.
  3. Click "Drop Box" in the left hand column.
  4. Click the link with your name to see the files in your dropbox.
  5. At the top of the list should be a ".zip" file that contains all of your department's reports. Click the zip file to download it, then locate the downloaded file and double-click it to see all the reports. If you download the ".zip" file it is not necessary to get the other files.
  6. If you only want to view the files online, you may click the folder with your name and then click individual files.
  7. As an alternative to the above, you can click the red "Upload/Download Multiple Resources" link and follow the instructions on that page. If the long link on the "multiple resources" pages is blue and clickable, then click it (this should work for people using Internet Explorer). You will need to log in with your NetID again. If it is not clickable (if you are using Firefox, Safari, or some other web browser), follow the instructions for Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Mac OS X. A folder will open on your computer, you can then drag and drop the files to a permanent location on your own computer. You must copy or move these files; we will delete the copies on the Sakai folder on the date specified above.

Instructions for Mac OS X (versions 10.4 "Tiger" or 10.5 "Leopard")

  1. Copy the link from the "Upload-Download Multiple Resources" page in Sakai.
  2. Go to the Macintosh "Finder" (your desktop).
  3. Click the "Go" menu and choose "Connect to Server..." (keyboard shortcut: command-k)
  4. Paste in the link from Sakai and click connect. Type in your NetID and password when asked.

Instructions for Windows XP

  1. Copy the link from the "Upload-Download Multiple Resources" page in Sakai.
  2. Go to "My Computer"

  5. Click "Choose another network location" and click "Next"
  6. Paste in the link from Sakai and click "Next".
  7. Look for a username and password box (it sometimes gets hidden behind other windows) and type in your NetID and password. You may need to do this step twice.

Instructions for Windows Vista

  1. Copy the link from the "Upload-Download Multiple Resources" page in Sakai.
  2. Go to "Start" then "Computer"
  3. Click "Map Network Drive" at the top of the window

  6. Paste in the link from Sakai and click "Next"
  7. Look for a username and password box (it sometimes gets hidden behind other windows) and type in your NetID and password. You may need to do this step twice
  8. If this does not work, download and install this update from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=907306 and repeat the instructions.
